Brgy. kagawad ganged-up on,
stabbed in Bacolod, police say

A barangay kagawad was ganged-up on by six suspects and stabbed at about 12:10 a.m. yesterday in Barangay 9, Bacolod City.

Station 2 chief, Senior Insp. Robert Dejucos, identified the victim as kagawad Jimmy Carabella, 37, of Purok Cadena de Amor in Brgy. 11, Bacolod.

Dejucos said Carabella came from the house of his relatives at Purok Calachuci in Brgy. 9, when he saw a group of at least six men having drinks beside the street.

Carabella’s advised the men to stop drinking and go home that led to a verbal tussle, Dejucos said.

The men, reportedly led by “Gamay Fermin”, a fixer at the Land Transportation Office, ganged up on Carabella and one of them stabbed the victim in his stomach and hand, the police said.

Carabella was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, where he is now confined.

A manhunt operation was launched by Station 2 policemen against the suspects, the police added.

Meanwhile, the police are still looking for an ex-convict, who allegedly shot his neighbors in Binalbagan, Negros Occidental, Sunday, town police chief, Senior Insp. Albert Sy, said.

Alejandro Hilado of Hacienda Pula in Brgy. San Pedro, fled after he allegedly shot his neighbors Johnrey, 29, and Rodney, 48, both surnamed Cesar.

Johnrey sustained a gunshot wound in the back, while Rodney was hit in his left arm. They were rushed to the CLMMRH in Bacolod, where they are now confined.

Sy said Hilado also shot at policemen who tried to arrest him. Charges for two counts of frustrated homicide will be filed against Hilado once the medical certificate of the victims are released, he added.*APN

seized from drug suspect

Two sachets of suspected shabu, illegal drug paraphernalia and a .22 caliber revolver with ammunition were seized by members of the Bacolod Police Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group from a man they arrested in a buy-bust operation at about 8:20 p.m. Monday in Brgy. Banago, Bacolod.

CAIDSTOG chief, Senior Insp. Niel Exaltado, said they nabbed Ruben de la Cruz, “alyas Nonoy Kalag”, 38, of Purok Tinagong Paraiso, Brgy. Banago, after he handed a small sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur buyer in exchange for P500.

Exaltado said De la Cruz has been under surveillance on information that he is into the illegal drugs trade.

A big plastic sachet of suspected shabu, two improvised tooters, three disposable lighters, a pair of scissor, an improvised plastic straw used as a scoop and two bamboo clips were also recovered from de la Cruz, Exaltado said.

CAIDSTOG operatives also arrested De la Cruz’s neighbor, identified as Vincent Elanggos, 18, allegedly for possession of a homemade firearm or “sulpak” with a bullet for a .38 caliber revolver.

De la Cruz is facing charges for sale of illegal drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, while Elanggos will be charged for illegal gun possession. They are both detained at the lockup cell of the Bacolod City police headquarters.*APN
