Querol lauds Negros police
for outstanding performance

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The Police Regional Office 6 awarded Supt. Calixto Mabugat with Medalya ng Kasanayan, for the arrest of a most wanted person in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, that had led to the solution of the P2 million armed robbery and murder cases in southern Negros.

Chief Supt. Cipriano Querol, regional police director of Western Visayas, cited Mabugat for his leadership as Kabankalan police chief, that resulted in the arrest of Bonifacio Galagate Jr., one of the principal suspects in the P2 million robbery, and the killing of Celso Cari-an. The police has declared the twin incidents as “solved”.

Other recipients of similar awards were Supt. Leonardo Angcon, Senior Inspector Anthony Grande, SPO1 Junji Liba, SPO1 Cyrill Bonilla and PO3 Rafael Santa Ana.

The medal recipients also participated in the arrest of former Army Sgt. Violate Fernandez, Dennis Santos and Sidney de Leon, for violation of RA 9165, known as the Comprehensive Drug Act of 2002, and illegal possession of ammunition during a drug raid in Kabankalan City, last month.

Mabugat also declared as “solved” the killing of Lucan Saban, a high school teacher, in Brgy. Bantayan, Kabankalan City, early this month, with the arrest of the suspected gunman identified as Fernando Dagohoy, and the filing of charges against him.* GPB
