The task force created to inspect the accuracy of the calibration of pumping machines of gasoline stations in Bacolod City will start its random inspection Friday, Bacolod Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson said yesterday.

Sayson had been tasked by Mayor Evelio Leonardia to head the task force that will include representatives of national agencies concerned with consumer welfare, especially the Department of Trade and Industry.

The task force aims to determine the accuracy of the pumping machines of gasoline stations.

Oisca to train more Negrenses

The Organization for Industrial, Spiritual and Cultural Advancement – International is planning to train Negrense workers on technology farming in Japan, for three years with pay, a press release from the Capitol said.

This was announced by Michiyasu Arayashiki, managing director of OISCA Int’l, during his courtesy call on Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr., at the Capitol yesterday, the press release said.

Alan Nuega, who accompanied Arayashiki, said OISCA needs workers, who have completed their secondary education and have experience in farming. The selected workers will be trained in the Okinawa, Prefecture.

Deadline for filing of COCs
for CENECO polls March 31

The deadline for the filing of Certificate of Candidacy for the March 31 election for the Board of Directors in the three districts of Central Negros Electric Cooperative is at 5 p.m. today, Roel Venus, CENECO Consumers Services Division Chief, said yesterday.

Today is also the deadline for inclusion and exclusion of voters.

Two candidates have filed their COC’s as of yesterday, but Venus said it is up to the screening committee to determine whether they are qualified to run or not.
