Close to 2,000 applicants
register in jobs fair: DOLE
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The Department of Labor and Employment Tripartite Industrial Peace Council recorded 1,784 applicants in the jobs fair held in Dumaguete City Tuesday.

Of this, 458 applied through online registration. The TIPC added that 804 qualified and were referred to prospective employers, while 797 were interviewed at the jobs fair held in a mall in the city.

Vivencio Lagahid, Senior Labor Employment officer, said only two were hired on-the-spot, as employment abroad still requires a final interview, medical check-up and additional requirements. For local employment, most of the employers are from the call center industry that requires additional screening for the applicants.

He added that the DOLE district office and the Public Employment Service Office in Dumaguete will follow up with the companies, on the “nearly hired” ones.*JG
