Probe on Arles
murder continues

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Investigators from the National Bureau of Investigation and the Philippine National Police yesterday said their probe into the assassination of Kabankalan Regional trial Court Judge Henry Arles is ongoing, but no breakthrough has been reached so far.

Arles was driving home in Ilog town in the evening of April 24, when he was killed by an assassin on board a tricycle.

His family has put up P1 million, while the Supreme Court is offering P200,000 for information that may lead to the arrest and conviction of his killers.

NBI Bacolod chief, Ferdinand Lavin, said they are 90 percent sure that the killing of Arles was job-related carried out by a hired professional.

“Our NBI agents are still trying to convince four to five witnesses to testify,” Lavin said.

The NBI is investigating five cases involving drugs and land acquisition that the judge handles for a positive motive for the killing, Lavin said.

They are also investigating persons who may have taken offense at arrest and search warrants issued by the judge, he added.

Senior Supt. Allan Guisihan, Negros Occidental police director, on the other hand said he has no yet update on the investigation into the Arles killing.*CPG
