Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday said the Commission on Audit is expected to approve the Negros Occidental provincial government’s sale and lease of its 7.7-hectare property near the Capitol in Bacolod City to AyalaLand Inc. on May 22 and development of the property is projected to start this year.
ALI has started the development plan for the property and paid for the documentary stamps for the transfer of title with the Register of Deeds, he said.
ALI plans to invest P6 billion for the development of the 7.7-hectare property that will provide jobs for thousands of Negrenses, the governor said.
Meanwhile, Capitol Hill Land Development Corp. that owns 888 Chinatown Square has won the bid to lease the site where the old Negros Occidental Provincial Jail is located at Gatuslao Street in Bacolod City, the governor said.
The governor said the firm initially plans to build a walkway that will connect the 888 Chinatown Square to the mall it plans to build across the street at the jail site.
Capitol Hill Development Corp. entered a P75.10 per square meter bid for the 10,616-square meter old jail site property for a lease of P797,261.60 per month, Provincial Administrator Enrique Pinongan said.
The governor said the National Food Authority officials have been asked to relocate their office that is sandwiched between the jail site and the property purchased by Ayala to Bago City where the provincial government will provide it with a site.
If the NFA does not move, it will no longer have an entrance to its warehouse on the side when Ayala starts construction, he said.
The governor also said the constructions of the Negros First Cyber Center at the Paglaum Sports Complex in Bacolod City is expected to be completed in March next year.
The construction of the P449,873,520.20 cyber center for the provincial government is being undertaken by EM Cuerpo Inc. and Dynamic Builders and Construction Company.*CPG back
