GSIS advisory

The Government Service Insurance System will terminate the implementation of its Hospital Insurance Plan and the Family Hospitalization Plus Plan starting January 1, 2013, a GSIS press release said.

The move is a result of the agency's findings that the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. offers better benefits compared to those being offered by the GSIS under both plans, the press release said.

The GSIS will stop the renewal of existing policies after the termination date of December 31 and will no longer bill and accept premium payments for the HIP and FHPP, it also said.

However, for policies that will remain in force until the end of 2012, the GSIS will accept and process claims as long as they are filed within 60 calendar days from the last day of confinement of the beneficiary.

GSIS members may visit the frontline services unit in any of the agency's offices or contact its call center through (Metro Manila ) 847-4747, Globe Toll Free Number: 1-800-8-847-4747 (free from both Globe landline and mobile phone), and PLDT/Smart Toll-Free Number: 1-800-10-847-4747 (free from PLDT landline: a flat rate of P8.00/per call from mobile phone), the press release said.*
