Police investigation
on OFW’s death on

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Bacolod City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz said yesterday he has ordered a thorough investigation on the case of the Overseas Filipino Worker who allegedly jumped from the third floor of the Hall of Justice Wednesday.

Hector Tomaro Villarosa, 54, of Purok Cabugwason, Brgy Mansilingan, Bacolod City was arrested for the attempted slay of PO1 Antonio Jimeno, whom he had stabbed on his back with a butcher's knife Tuesday night.

Villarosa’s wife, Jasmin, said her husband worked as a mechanic in Saudi Arabia. They have three daughters and a son.

Villarosa’s mother-in-law Teresita Bagiu, 56, told the police that Villarosa, had choked her Tuesday and had asked that Villarosa be brought to Police Station 7 so that they could discuss the incident.

The police went with Bagiu to her residence in Purok Cabugwason and Villarosa agreed to go with them to Station 7, to settle their conflict. However, on their way to the police precinct, he stabbed Jimeno who was sitting beside him in the police patrol vehicle.

Station 7 policemen were escorting Villarosa to the City Prosecutor’s Office for the filing of charges at 11:04 a.m. Wednesday when he jumped from the third floor of the Hall of Justice building, landing on the square behind the statue of Lady Justice, where he died a few seconds later.

While the incident was evidently a suicide, De la Paz said, he wants to know if there were lapses on the part of Villarosa’s escorts, for their failure to stop him from committing suicide.

De la Paz said he will wait for the recommendation of the investigators whether the police escorts should be meted penalties, or exonerated.*APN
