The Negros Oriental Division of Schools needs about 200 teachers in January, aside from the 38 items positions to be filled up before the end of 2012, Superintendent Salutiano Jimenez said.

He advised those who are handling preschool classes to complete the 18 units required by law so they can be prioritized in the hiring process.

Jimenez said more than 200 teachers were allotted for Negros Oriental by the Department of Education, in line with 61,000 school teacher items promised by DepEd Secretary Armin Luistro and President Benigno Aquino III for the whole country.

The allocation was based on the Electronic Basic Education Information System of DepEd, he added.*JG
