The Association of Negros Producers will launch a new awareness campaign for Philippine sugar, at the opening of the 27th Negros Trade Fair on September 26, at the Rockwell Tent in Makati, a press release said.
A new brand of Philippine Sugar called Sweet deals hopes to open avenues for sugar cooperatives to sell branded sugar to specialty coffee shops, hotels, and restaurants, the press release said.
As part of the launching of the awareness campaign, an audio-visual presentation, produced by the group of Negrense composer Mario Gamboa Peña, will be shown throughout the duration of the trade fair.
SRA moves Cebu office
The Sugar Regulatory Administration has transferred its Cebu office at the Cebu Port Authority Terminal 3 recently, a press release from the agency said.
The office will issue shipping permits for sugar coming out of Cebu right inside the port complex.
The new location will be the SRA’s base for monitoring sugar that goes in and out of the province as it is strategic to closely monitor the entry of imported sugar in the Visayas, the press release said.
ECB bond-buying program
boosts stocks, peso rates
MANILA – Both local stocks and the peso benefited from the announcement of the latest bond-buying program of the European Central Bank.
The composite index rose by 0.99 percent, or 51.21 points, to 5,201.32 points on Friday from Thursday’s 5,150.11 level.
Also, the broader all shares index went up by 0.76 percent, or 25.93 points, to 3,454.83 points from the previous day’s 3,428.9 points.
