‘No special treatment for cops’
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Policemen facing criminal charges will not receive special treatment while in jail, Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz, regional police director of Western Visayas, said yesterday.

“Cops arrested for acts contrary to law will be treated like ordinary suspects or criminals”, Cruz said.

Police Officers 3 Kenneth Cerbo and Artemio Sayam figured in shooting incidents in Bacolod City and in Lambunao, Iloilo, that claimed the lives of two persons, police records show.

More is expected from police officers when it comes to obedience to law and order than from ordinary citizens, Cruz said, adding that it is befitting that PNP members who commit crimes and other illegal acts suffer the consequences, like other criminals.

Cerbo and Sayam are now being investigated by the Police Regional Office 6.

Impartial and swift justice will always be their priority in dealing with issues that confront the PNP, Cruz added.*GPB
