Arrest of robbery suspect
solves 3 other crimes: PNP

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The recent arrest of a robbery-hold-up suspect also led to the solution of three other incidents, with a United States citizen, among his victims, in Bago City, Negros Occidental, city police chief Supt. David Cachumbo said yesterday.

Cachumbo said the suspect, identified as Jan Bernard Bancaya was arrested on September 5 , when he and his two companions robbed the collector of a lending firm in Brgy. Mailum, Bago City.

Bancaya and his two colleagues robbed at gunpoint the lending firm collector of P14,000 in cash, investigations of the Bago police showed.

Cachumbo said Bancaya was also identified by his two other victims, US citizen Richard Davis and businessman Jose Gilbert Laguyo, as among those who robbed them in Brgy. Atipuluhan, Bago City, last month.

The hold-up suspects took P13,000 in cash and imported clothings from Davis, while a computer laptop, a 9mm pistol and assorted jewelries were taken from Laguyo, police records also showed.

Bancaya is now detained at the Bago police jail, pending the filing of several criminal charges against him.* GPB
