BBC/Amazing ’09 eyes another win
in USLS Alumni/LNA 7 basketball

Tournament leader and powerhouse squad Bacolod Basketball Club /Amazing 09 will be gunning for another victory tonight when it clashes against Batch 2007-2010, hoping to extend its winning streak tonight in the second round of the elimination of the 4th University of St. La Salle Alumni Association/LNA7 Sports Foundation Basketball Tournament at the West Negros University Gym.

Game starts at 7:30 p.m.

Despite of a long break from the hardcourt, BBC/Amazing ’09 is expected to go out offensively focused behind its three-guard combination of Sammy Belangel, Nico Lopingco and Timothy Dumancas while Derek Sibug and Philip Abong will be manning the shaded area.

Sharp bowlers keep
No. 1 spot in tourney

Sharp continue to lead in the premiere division, with Metro Sales and Condura having the same privilege in their respective categories in the Supplier’s Friendship Cup Open Trio Bowling Tournament at the New Top’s Millennium Plaza Alley in Bacolod City.

Anchored by Irne Diaz, Sharp tallied a total of 7,294 pinfalls, with one more game left.

Rey Oreta’s Metro Sales lead in bracket B with 7,001, while Condura ASSFBI Ladies led by Juliet Regollo is No.1 spot in the women’s category with 7,521.

Suarez edges closer
to Olympic seat

Twenty-three-year-old Charly Suarez has set his sights on a stint in the coming London Olympics and did not allow the feisty Daisuke Narimatsu of Japan to stand in his way.

The hard-hitting Filipino controlled their semifinal fight in the Asian Olympic Qualifying Event at the Daulet Stadium as he led in the first round, 4-3, poured it on in round 2 at 13-8 and sealed the victory with a final score of 24-11.

Suarez came from a successful stint with the Mumbai Fighters of India in the World Series of Boxing, the semi-professional league organized by the world governing body for amateur boxing, the International Boxing Federation.
