IN SIATON:
Cult leader eludes arrest
for death of ‘informant'
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

A leader of a cult group, wanted for multiple murder charges, eluded a police manhunt for him and his members, after the fatal shooting of a farmer, in Siaton, Negros Oriental, recently.

Insp. Cresente Gurrea, Siaton town police chief, said Jimson “Jimmy” Enocerta, who has reportedly been in hiding in Siaton since the murder of businessman Demetrio Larena III on October 20, 2011, in Sibulan, Negros Oriental, allegedly led armed members of the Pulahan cult group in killing Martino Tangaro, 44, single, of Barangay Casalaan in Siaton, Friday.

Gurrea said he believes Tangaro was killed because he was perceived to be a civilian informant, who provided the police with information on the presence of Enocerta and other armed groups in the town.

Investigation showed that Tangaro was with his brother, Celestino, when Enocerta and six unidentified companions, ambushed them. Martino died of multiple gunshot wounds while Celestino escaped unharmed, Gurrea added.

Police records show that Enocerta is wanted for murder charges for the deaths of a barangay tanod of Malaunay, in Valencia town, and a resident of Casalaan, Siaton.*JFP
