The Task Force Mapalad-Negros welcomed the Supreme Court decision reaffirming its previous ruling on the distribution of the 4,915-hectare Hacienda Luisita, a press release from the group said.

Alberto Jaime, TFM-Negros president, said the decision will compel the Department of Agrarian Reform to act quickly on the distribution of the sugar estate that should have been transferred to the farmers and sugar workers 50 years ago.

He added that DAR should now take over the property and determine with finality the list of beneficiaries, majority of them members of militant unions belonging to the United Luisita Workers Union, Alyansa ng ng mga Magbubukid sa Luisita, and the Alyansa ng Magbubukid sa Gitnang Luson, the press release added.*
