City police director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz said Senior Insp. Ruel Culanag, who has served as officer-in-charge of Police Station 10 for six months now, has been reassigned as deputy head of the BCPO Special Weapons and Tactics Unit.
Culanag will temporarily replace Senior Insp. Jovil Sedel, who was assigned to Camp Martin Delgado as SWAT training instructor.
De la Paz ordered Santa Ana to intensify the anti-criminality drive campaign and initiate pre-emptive measures, and coordinate with the officials of the barangays covered by Station 10.
Santa Ana said he is mulling a “Bantay Purok” program to bridge the gap between the police and the community.
He said he will meet with the barangay officials again to lay down his priority projects.
Santa Ana, Police Officer 3 Anthony Alvarez, Police Officer 2 Arnold Alabanzas, and Police Officers 1 Joemar Efundo and Richard Ivan Lopez of the Iloilo City Police Mobile Group, were ordered suspended on February 1, this year by the Ombudsman.
The suspension stemmed from a case for grave abuse of authority and grave misconduct filed by Police Officer 1 Joebert Castillo of the Estancia Police Station in Iloilo against them in 2010 when Santa Ana was then the deputy of the Iloilo City Police Mobile Group.*APN
