A police officer conducting a follow-up operation on a theft case was himself almost robbed about 12:55 a.m. yesterday at Purok Kagaykay, Brgy. 2, Bacolod City.
PO1 Rolly Jardinico, of Police Station 1, said he parked his car in front of a burger store and was walking towards a dark portion of the road when two unidentified men approached and pointed a knife at him.
Before the suspects could take action, Jardinico said, he had drawn his .45 caliber pistol and identified himself as a member of the Philippine National Police. That led to the arrest of one of the suspects he identified as Delby Murillo, 18, of Purok Lubi, Brgy. 3.
He also said his companion, PO1 Eduard Teodorico, tried to chase Murillo's companion, identified as alias “Pipoy,” however, managed to escape.
They recovered from Murillo an improvised shotgun and a .357 caliber live ammunition, both with “DMD” marks, he also said.
Jardinico added that he has already filed charges for robbery and violation of Republic Act 8294, or the Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunition before the City Prosecutor's Office in Bacolod City against Murillo. *LTG
