Lirazan promoted

The much-awaited promotions of Supt. Milko Lirazan, director of the 6th Regional Public Safety Battalion, and Supt. Pedrito Escarilla have finally came into reality.

Lirazan and Escarilla, former deputy director for Administration of the Bacolod City Police Office, were promoted to senior superintendent, which is equivalent to full-pledged colonel in the Armed Forces of the Philippines, police records show.

Chief Supt. Cipriano Querol, regional police director of Western Visayas, yesterday administered the oath-taking and pinning of ranks on Lirazan and Escarila, who is now the PRO6 chief of the Regional Investigation and Detection Management Division.

With their promotion, of Lirazan and Escarilla to the next higher rank, they are now ready to occupy a much position either as city or provincial police director, among others.

The position as provincial police director of Negros Occidental will soon be vacated by Senior Supt. Allan Guisihan, who is in line for a higher position at Camp Crame.

Querol, reiterated in a statement the warning of PNP chief Nicanor Bartolome against soliciting directly, or indirectly, influence or recommendation from politicians or prominent individuals, in their quests

for new assignments and placements in the PNP.

Bartolome, in the memorandum he issued dated Jan. 26, expressed dismay over reports of police officers soliciting interventions from politicians, high ranking government officials and even from religious leaders to be promoted, transferred or designated in positions of their choice or convenience, and for other reasons.

He said the act of soliciting interventions is a clear violation of Police Professional Conduct, and stressed that violators will be dealt with accordingly to existing rules and regulations.

Querol admitted that the memorandum of Bartolome is a big challenge for members of the force to stop soliciting patronage from politicians and prominent persons. *GPB
