Murder raps set
versus jobless man
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Murder charges will be filed against a jobless man who shot and killed his brother-in-law who allegedly molested his daughter, in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental Tuesday.

The charges will be filed against Lito Bawa-an, 51, of Brgy. San Jose, Sipalay, City police chief, Supt. Leonardo Angcon said.

Investigation showed that Bawa-an got mad when he allegedly caught the victim Roberto Tabanao, 40 of sitio Hinablan, Brgy Gil Montilla, Sipalay in the act of molesting his 13-year-old daughter, whose name the police withheld, when he and his wife, whose name was not disclosed, arrived home at about 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Bawa-an told the police he scolded Tabanao but the victim allegedly fought back and that led to the shooting, Angcon said.

Bawa-an surrendered to the police minutes after the shooting, and endorsed the homemade shotgun with two live ammunitions he had used in shooting Tabanao. A spent bullet was recovered from the crime scene, Angcon said.

He said the family of Tabanao had not returned to the Sipalay police station as of yesterday but they signified that they are willing to file the charges against Bawa-an.

Bawa-an is detained at the Sipalay City police station, while the body of Tabanao has been brought to their residence.*APN
