Zayco funeral set Monday
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

The remains of businessman Jose Maria “Boy” Zayco now lie in state at the St. Peters Memorial Chapels in Brgy. Alijis and will be brought to Kabankalan City at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

Interment will be on Monday at the Kabankalan cemetery after a 2 p.m. mass.

Zayco, 64, was vice president of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He passed away Tuesday afternoon after suffering from a massive heart attack at the MBCCI office.

Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson said they will pray for the soul of Zayco, whom he considered a friend. “We can never really tell what may happen to our lives”, he said upon learning of the sudden demise of Zayco.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia said he was shocked to learn about Zayco’s death. He recalled that he had never seen Zayco looking sad since he was always vibrant and very witty, which allowed him to mix and deal with all sectors of society.

“We express our deepest condolences to the Zayco clan,” Leonardia said. “He is a big loss to our society in Bacolod and Negros Occidental,” he said.

Zayco is survived by his daughter, Rachelle Zayco, and granddaughter, Angelique.*CGS
