Guard linked to terror
group reports probed

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Bacolod City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz yesterday said they are verifying reports that a former jail guard, who is allegedly connected to a terror group, is here in Bacolod City to recruit civilians to join them.

Intelligence reports showed that the former jail guard, whose name the police withheld, and who is from the Southern Philippines, has been in the city for several weeks and has already established a mass base to start the recruitment.

De la Paz said they are trying to establish the real identity of the jail guard and what group he is affiliated with. He also ordered the intelligence group to verify if this person has the capability to sow terror.

While this report is still being verified, De la Paz assured the public that this is not cause for alarm.

The information regarding his alleged recruitment has already been disseminated to police stations and police units in Bacolod, the police said.

De la Paz said that although this report has not been verified yet, they are not letting their guard down.*APN
