Two more suspected car burglars were apprehended by Station 2 policemen in successive follow-up operations in Brgy. 2, Bacolod City, Wednesday and yesterday, through information from their leader.
Sammy Hilado, 26, of Brgy. Rumirang in Isabela town Negros Occidental and his 17-year-old companion of Brgy. Banago, whose name is withheld, being a minor, were nabbed in Puroks Cagaycay and Sigay, at about 1:30 a.m. yesterday and at around 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, respectively, Station 2 chief, Senior Insp. Robert Dejucos, said.
A homemade .357 caliber revolver was seized from the minor, while a firearm of the same caliber, and illegal drug paraphernalia were recovered from Hilado, the police said.
Dejucos said the suspects have admitted that they are behind the car burglary incidents in the areas of Police Station 2 to save the life of the son of their leader, Ian Dionson, 32, of Purok Sigay in Brgy. 2, who has hydrocephalus and needed an operation.
Dionson, who was arrested Sunday and Hilado, however, told the media yesterday that they were tortured by station 2 policemen by pouring hot water and liniment oil on their sex organs, to admit the crime, an allegation that Dejucos vehemently denied.
The family of Dionson has sought the help of the Commission on Human Rights on the alleged torture, but special investigator Ric Baraca told the DAILY STAR that no formal charges have been filed against the policemen, so far.
Baraca advised the family of Dionson to file a police blotter on the alleged torture and to have Dionson undergo a medical examination to prove their claims.
De la Paz said the arrest of Dionson and his two companions will cripple the operation of their group. He also ordered Station 2 policemen to locate and arrest the group's other member, identified as a certain “Aki Cuadra”.
Aside from the group of Dionson, BCPO intelligence report also showed that the other car burglary group operating in Bacolod is led by Ian Agravante, 30, of Brgy. Concepcion in Talisay City , Negros Occidental, who was apprehended by station 1 policemen in Brgy. 2, Sunday, after he allegedly burglarized a Pajero vehicle.*APN
