Aklan to host
2013 WVRAA Meet

The Province of Aklan will host the 2013 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association meet and the official turnover of the WVRAA banner, from Negros Occidental to Aklan, is set later this month in Boracay Island.

Reports from the Provincial Sports Office said Executive Assistant to the Governor for Sports, Angel Verdeflor, delegated the task of handing the WVRAA banner to Romeo Sison of the DepEd provincial Bureau of Physical Education Supervisor.

Verdeflor said the turnover ceremony will be headed by DepEd regional director Mildred Garay and regional PESS supervisor Juliet Braga.

Sports ambassadors
outplay local teams

The longest visiting American basketball squad, Venture for Victory/Sports Ambassadors, stays unbeaten as the team visits different towns and cities in Negros Occidental.

Pastor Gary Visitacion, Sports Ambassadors Philippines national director, said the team has established a winning streak since the start of their campaign on June 10 at Punta Taytay, Barangay Sum-ag against a selection of local players.

After winning in Sum-ag, 95-78, the team travelled to Kabankalan City for a series of exhibition games, then went to Binalbagan to face the challenge of the local selection.

3-on-3 basketball
tilt opens today

The 1st LNA7 3-on-3 Basketball Challenge 2012 opens today at 8:30 a.m. at the West Negros University Gym, a press release from WNU Sports Office said.

Aimed to revive the 3-on-3 basketball in the province, the tournament will run for two weekends, June 16-17 and June 23-24.

To be contested are top honors in four age-group divisions – the 10 and under, 12 and under, 15 and under and the 17 and under.
