Bacolod to employ 1,100
for summer work: PESO

Bacolod City is employing 1,100 students for summer jobs under the Special Program for Employment of Students of the Department of Labor and Employment, Moises de la Cruz, manager of the Bacolod Public Employment Service Office, said yesterday.

De la Cruz said the students will conduct surveys on skilled workers, job vacancies, and survey on the payment of mayor’s permits for businesses.

He said they have distributed the application forms to all barangay captains in the 61 barangays of Bacolod, adding that they last day of filing is Friday.

The students will work for 15 days and their wages will be shouldered by the city government, unlike before when allocations for wages were shared by the city and the DOLE de la Cruz said.

SPES is open to all high school, college, and vocational students and out-of-school youth aged 15 to 25 years old.

De la Cruz also said the SPES will make students productive during the summer break and they will save money that they can use during the next enrolment in their respective schools.*LTG
