Alvarez denies
SP reorganization

Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez yesterday debunked reports of an impending reorganization of chairmanship of the committees of the Negros Occidental Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

Alvarez made the clarification because of reports that Board Member Salvador Escalante Jr. may be ousted as chairman of the SP committee on Finance and Appropriations.

On Tuesday, Escalante said that he is the secret weapon of Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. and Alvarez, who are running for the Negros Occidental gubernatorial post in the 2013 elections.

Escalante, an ally of Marañon, said he is very willing to relinquish the chairmanship of the committee, as the budget hearings are taking a lot of his time away from his constituents in the second district.

Alvarez said he is opposing any move to oust Escalante from his present position.

Meanwhile, Alvarez said that he did not say that the Negros Occidental Comprehensive Health Care Program was copied from his health program in the 6 th district of the province.

Before the NOCHP was implemented, Alvarez said they had a similar health program being implemented in the district.* GPB
