Ayala mall in Talisay set to
create 2,500 new jobs
BY LISA GAPAC

The P700 million District North Point Ayala Mall in Talisay City that will officially open in February next year will provide 2,500 jobs, Maria Rowena Tomeldan, vice president and head of operations and support services of Ayala Land Inc., said yesterday.

Tomeldan and other officials of ALI were in Talisay City for a merchants' preview of the mall and to turn over the spaces for lease to its Manila-based and local retailers.

The mall has an area of 26,725 square meters and has 140 spaces for lease, she said. About 60 to 70 percent of which are already occupied and 10 to 15 percent of it are allotted for local retailers, she added.

Tomeldan also encouraged more local retailers to be part of the mall and assured them of affordable rates as they only charge them with the same amount retailers pay in their current locations.

Maria Corazon Dizon, vice president and head for business development and strategic planning, said that mall will be the community center that will provide basic shopping, dining, and personal convenience to the customers.

The mall is also envisioned to be a hang-out place for customers by making sure that the development is sustainable and does not damage the environment, Dizon said. It also provides ample open spaces and fresh landscape parks with distinctive architectural design, she added.

Meanwhile, Tom Mirasol, head of residential business group, marketing, and sales, also said that as the construction of the area is progressing, their sales of the residential brands at the ANP have been picking up significantly.

Mirasol also said he expects that the residential brands at the Ayala North Point will be sold out by middle of next year.

Metro, the retail store in Cebu owned by Viscal Development Corp., has also started the construction of its hypermarket within the ANP mall. Eduardo Ponce, president of the Metro Retail Group said that

The 5,500-square meter-hypermarket is a combination of supermarket and general merchandise store that will have food and dry goods and general merchandise, Ponce said. *LTG
