UNDOC seeks
help of city gov’t

BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

The United Negros Drivers and Operators Center is asking the help of the city government so members of the Brgy. Alijis Drivers Operators Association will be allowed to load or pick up passengers at the temporary Alijis terminal in Central Market in Bacolod City.

In their letter to Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Councilor Dindo Ramos, the group claimed that the area in front of Gaisano Department Store is being monopolized by the group of former UNDOC secretary general Jessie Ortega and BARDOA president Oscar Tiauson, and that in front of McDonalds by the group of Elizabeth Katalbas, president of the Federation of Bacolod Drivers Association and a member of the Alijis Barangay Council.

The letter dated August 14, 2012 was signed by UNDOC secretary general Diego Malacad and Raymundo Britanico and Khenrick Vrela, BADOA president and secretary, respectively.

They said the SP passed Resolution 543 Series of 2012 requesting the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office-Traffic Management Unit head to put order in Luzuriaga Street particularly in the temporary terminals of the two Alijis –Central Market routes.

They asked to be given fair treatment as taxpayers of the city.

Ramos, chairman of the SP Committee on Transportation and Traffic Management said they received the letter only on Wednesday and will schedule a public hearing on the matter.*CGS
