DOJ sends subpoenas to mayor,
6 others tagged in Arles murder

BY CARLA GOMEZ

The Department of Justice has issued subpoenas to Ilog Mayor John Paul Alvarez and  six other respondents named in a complaint filed  by the National Bureau of Investigation against them for the murder of Kabankalan Regional Trial Court Judge Henry Arles, lawyer Frank Britanico yesterday said.

Also issued subpoenas were  Emmanuel Medez,  an administrative aide 1 of the Ilog government, and RPA-ABB members Marvin Salve and Gerald Gallano Tabujara who are at-large, and Jessie  Daguia, Alejandro  Capunong and Eddie  Fotunado who are now under NBI custody in Manila, Britanico, who is the brother-in-law of Arles, said.

“As to the latest three respondents, Rustom Puro, Vice Governor Genaro  Alvarez, and Vice Mayor Gerry  Tabujara, we expect theirs to be sent while the  preliminary investigation is in progress,” he added.

The three were implicated in the murder  by a new witness who identified herself only as “Honeybee.”

Arles was shot dead in Barangay Manalad, Ilog, at about 6:30 p.m. on April 24 while he was driving home.*CPG
