Businessman shot, now critical
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

A businessman was shot in Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod City, at about 11:45 a.m. yesterday and is now in critical condition.

Station 6 commander, Chief Insp. Noel Polines identified the victim as R icardo Pugoy, “alias Nonoy”, of Brgy. 27, Bacolod .

Pugoy, the brother-in-law of a police colonel, was hit in the neck and is now confined at the Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital, while the suspect, identified as a certain “Butchok Libo-on”, 62, of Purok Gonzaga, Taculing, evaded arrest, Polines said.

Witnesses said Pugoy, who was riding on his motorcycle reportedly blocked the trisikad driven by Lib-on at Gonzaga Street and fired a shot, Polines said.

Libo-on, retaliated and fired Pugoy with with a .45 caliber pistol thrice, and the last shot hit him in the neck, Polines said.

Investigation conducted by Police Officer 1 Arnel Deles showed that the incident may have been triggered by an old grudge because Pugoy and Libo-on had a misunderstanding several months ago but it was settled when they met at Police Station 6.

Recovered from the crime scene were two empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol, a deformed slug of the same caliber, Pugoy's .22 caliber magnum revolver with seven bullets in it, and an empty shell of the same caliber, a police report showed.

Polines said they also have in their custody the Honda XRM motorcycle of Pugoy.

Pugoy, who is in the arcade game business, is a brother-in-law of former Cavite Provincial Police Office Director, Senior Supt. Premitivo Tabujara, who is from Negros Occidental.

Tabujara said he has coordinated with Bacolod City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz for the resolution of his brother-in-law's case.

De la Paz has ordered the immediate arrest of the suspect.*APN
