Cops seize 205
trisikads in city

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

The Bacolod City Police Traffic Management Unit seized 205 more trisikads from different areas in the city in their two week operation from August 29 until yesterday.

TMU head Chief Insp. Luisito Acebuche said the trisikads were confiscated from Lacson, Rosario-San Juan, Rosario-San Sebastian, Luzuriaga-San Juan, Luzuriaga-Lacson and Gonzaga-Lacson streets.

Aside from trisikads, TMU also impounded 47 tricycles for plying the main highways of Bacolod, police records show.

Acebuche said their campaign against trisikads plying the main streets of Bacolod stemmed from the complaints they received from several motorists in the past weeks.

Under City Ordinance 335, tricycles and trisikads are banned at the national highways as they pose danger to other motorists, he said.

Acebuche added that, based on their new scheme, impounded trisikads and tricycles will be released to the owners only after a week and after they have settled the corresponding fines.

Meanwhile, 20 motorcycles at the TMU whose drivers committed various violations were also impounded.

Some drivers were not wearing helmets, while others failed to present documents proving their ownership, Acebuche said.*APN
