Gubernatorial bet Genaro Alvarez Jr. of the Nationalist People’s Coalition yesterday said the gathering of the NPC Negros for the mass oathtaking of the party’s new members today will be a show of force.
Top NPC officials, led by Ambassador Eduardo Cojuangco, its chairman emeritus, will be at the oathtaking at L’Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City.
Just count the mayors who will be present, Alvarez told the media when asked if it will be a show of force.
Alvarez also said he is thankful for Cojuangco’s endorsement of him for governor.
The revelations of Cojuangco at a press conference yesterday on how he came to choose him as his gubernatorial bet was very enlightening and clarified matters that had only been speculated earlier, Alvarez said.
Alvarez reiterated that the race for governorship in Negros Occidental in 2013 will be a friendly fight.
On Thursday, his opponent, Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr., said “Let the best man win.”
Kabankalan Mayor Isidro Zayco, NPC Negros chairman, said Alvarez and Marañon are strong contenders, the elections next year should be exciting.
Let’s leave it to the people of Negros Occidental to make their choice, he added.*CPG back
