Pulupandan treasurer
is missing, Peņa says

Mayor Magdaleno Peņa yesterday said the Pulupandan town treasurer is nowhere to be found and so far the town's funds are short by almost P800,000.

Peņa said Teodolfo Caro has not reported for work and could not be located.

Caro had formerly been assigned in Don Salvador Benedicto town and had problems there but was accepted by former Mayor Luis Mondia as treasurer in Pulupandan, Peņa said.

Peņa said he was informed that Caro has a gambling habit.

When he is found, we will physically restrain him to finish his accounting in Pulupandan, the mayor said.

As to the appeal Sunday of the rest of the 187 Mondia supporters accused of grave threats for reconciliation, Peņa said that, as long as they will cooperate, he will welcome them but not the "hard-headed ones."

Peņa supporters had earlier filed grave threats charges against the 187 and last week charges against 26 who were detained were dropped after he brokered their withdrawal by the complainants.

The court had earlier recalled the release of the accused into the custody of Luis Mondia and Elda Mondia and ordered the two to surrender them or face contempt.

Mrs. Mondia has a problem because she still has to answer for the 140 who are still at large and is liable for contempt, Peņa said.*CPG
