Denies meeting with
Golez for tandem
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia denied reports yesterday that he recently met with Rep. Anthony Golez (Bacolod lone District) for a possible tandem in the 2013 elections, and leaving Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson behind.

Reports from several media entities, not in the DAILY STAR, said that Leonardia will definitely run as congressman of Bacolod while Golez will run for mayor.

“I haven't seen or communicated with Golez for months because of our busy schedules”, Leonardia said.

“In politics anything can be said and we will not be surprised if rumors like that are coming out”, he added.

Golez could not be reached for comment as of press time.

Leonardia, Sayson and Golez, all members of the Nationalist People's Coalition, all ran under the Grupo Progreso in the 2010 elections.

Meanwhile, Leonardia, who is the chairman of NPC in Bacolod, said that they are yet to decide who will be their official Vice Mayoralty candidate for 2013.

Although he said that the “slot is open”, and the names of Councilors Roberto “Bobby” Rojas, Al Victor Espino and Homer Bais are being floated as possible vice mayoralty candidate of the NPC.

Espino and Bais are on their third terms as city councilors.

“It is too early to talk about it as the filing of the certificates of candidacy is in October yet, but if we come up with a decision, we will let the public know”, Leonardia said.*APN
