‘No organized crime
groups in Neg.Or.’

BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

Sr. Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas , chief of the Regional Intelligence Division of the Philippine National Police in Region 7 or Central Visayas, said there are no large organized crime groups in Negros Oriental.

He, however, admitted the presence of suspected hired guns in Negros Oriental but claimed they are not organized and could be operating in small numbers.

He said this after a recent shooting incidents in Cebu and in Negros Oriental, as his area of coverage includes the  Central Visayas region.

He added that they are closely monitoring a few groups suspected to be operating in Cebu, especially at the height of the yearly celebration of the Sinulog Festival this week.*JFP
