NegOr INC
members join rally

BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Thousands of Iglesia ni Cristo members in Negros Oriental were in Cebu City for their Grand Evangelical Mission Tuesday as part of INC’s intensive campaign to spread the good news and the Word of God.

An INC member, who refused to be identified, said more than 1,000 of its members boarded two inter-island vessels, some shuttling buses via Tampi, in Amlan, Negros Oriental to Cebu City to catch up with scheduled prayer rally, simultaneously undertaken in different regions of the country.

The same source said the Negros Oriental delegation is headed by district minister Virgilio Banez Sr, on orders of INC executive minister Eduardo Manalo.

It however, denied reports that the grand evangelical mission is a show of force as a politically-influential group that can deliver two to three million votes in national elections, and in support to Chief Justice Renato Corona, whose lead counsel, former associate justice and former Department of Justice Sec. Serafin Cuevas, is a member of the INC.

According to the source, the GEM is part of the mission to evangelize the people on what the INC believes in and is open to the public with no specific personalities being invited.

The holding of the GEM is also in preparation for the centennial celebration of the INC in 2012.*JG
