Int’l flights urged
for Neg. Occ., too

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Silay Mayor Jose Montelibano yesterday said he is urging airline firms to fly international flights to the Bacolod Silay-Airport, too.

Last week Cebu Pacific began flights from the Iloilo International Airport to Hong Kong and Singapore.

Montelibano said the international flights will depend on the market, but he believes there are enough Overseas Filipino Workers and travelers from Negros Occidental to make it viable to open similar routes at the Bacolod-Silay Airport.

The Bacolod-Silay Airport officially opened and began operations on Jan. 18, 2008,

The first international flight to arrive at the airport was a chartered plane from Kazakhstan that landed on Jan. 2, 2009. ZestAir briefly flew in international flights to the Bacolod-Silay Airport from Incheon, South Korea, early this year.*CPG
