BCPO tops WV anti-drugs drive
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The Bacolod City Police Office again topped the anti-drug operations in Western Visayas, for having the most number of drug personalities accounted for in the three quarters of 2012.

BCPO, headed by Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, accounted for 121 of the 337 drugs suspects arrested by the police in Region 6, while the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office apprehended 58 drug personalities, records of the Police Regional Office 6 show.

Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz, regional police director, however, noted that the number of arrested drug suspects this year is lower, compared to the 361 arrested last year.

Cruz said drug peddlers are now very careful in their activities, and even utilize minors as couriers in their operations.

He ordered police commander to further intensify their anti-drug operations with the onset of Yuletide season, because the people have more money to spend.

The Illoilo City Police Office ranked second, with 60 arrested drug peddlers, NOPPO - 58, Iloilo Police Provincial Office - 31, Aklan Police Provincial Office - 26, Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force -19, Capiz Police Provincial Office -15, Antique Police Provincial Office - 6, while the Guimaras Police Provincial Office netted one suspect.

In the same period, the PRO6 also filed 245 drug cases against the arrested suspects.

In the previous two quarters of 2012, the BCPO also topped the Western Visayas police anti-drug operations.* GPB
