Foundations turn
over 8 classrooms

The partnership between two Negros-based foundations, Negrense Volunteers for Change Foundation and Fundacion Familia Barcelona, and Madrid-based Angelicum Foundation recently bore more fruit with the turnover of eight classrooms, Millie Kilayko, NVC president, said yesterday.

Kilayko said that, in partnership with local government units, the classrooms are built from a donation from Angelicum Foundation which is represented locally by Fundacion Familia Barcelona.

NVC Foundation provides administrative and logistical support, while LGU's counterpart the project with the construction of classroom interiors such as desks and shelves, she said.

Turned over last week were two classrooms each in Don Salvador Benedicto in Negros Occidental, and in the towns of La Libertad, Ayungon and Jimalalud in Negros Oriental.

Three months ago, the same partnership also turned over six classrooms in Silay City, Talisay City and Murcia in Negros Occidental, she said.

The construction of 24 more classrooms funded by Angelicum Foundation, 12 in Negros Occidental and another 12 in Negros Oriental, is in the pipeline within the last quarter 2012, she added.

NVC Foundation is also a project partner of Aklat, Gabay, at Aruga Tungo sa Pag-angat at Pag-Asa (AGAPP) Foundation and Sen. Sergio Osmeña III on the construction of classrooms for preschoolers in public elementary schools.

By the end of 2012, NVC Foundation would have facilitated the construction of 100 classrooms, and another 30 classrooms will be ready for turn over within the first quarter of 2013, Kilayko said.*
