Grave threats and violation of the election gun ban charges were
filed yesterday against two troopers of the Regional Mobile Group
for allegedly threatening and slapping two brothers in Bacolod City
Friday.
SPO3 Onofre Fisca, chief investigator of Police Station 2
told the DAILY STAR, they filed the charges against Police Officers
1 William Escalada and Neal Estacion, both members of the 603rd
Mobile Company, 6th RMG at E. Lopez, Silay City, before the Bacolod
City Prosecutor's Office at about 11:40 a.m. yesterday.
Police reports showed Escalada and Estacion allegedly threatening
Paul Tristam Miravalles, 23 and his 16-year-old brother at the People's
Village bar at 22nd-Lacson streets, Bacolod City at about 10:50
p.m. on Feb. 16.
The brothers claimed that the two policemen slapped them several
times and one threatened them with his firearm, police reports said.
On Tuesday, Senior Supt. Pedro Merced, 6th RMG director said Escalada
and Estacion will face administrative charges, aside from the criminal
charges filed by the private complainants.
Meanwhile, Acting Bacolod City police director Senior Supt. Ronilo
Quebrar said he is reminding his men to refrain from drinking in
bars and other public places to avoid similar incidents. He said
policemen should not stay or drink in establishments such as videoke
bars unless they have authority to do so.*DMG
