Woman killed in road mishap

A pedestrian was ran over by a passenger bus owned by First Farmers Philippines at about 3 p.m. Friday, in front of Lopue’s Mandalagan in Bacolod City, and dies several hours after.

Senior Police Officer 1 June Garong, traffic investigator, identified the victim as Anelyn Liriodica, 56, of Santa Clara Subdivision in Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod. She sustained severe injuries in her right leg.

She was rushed to the Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital, but died while being treated at about 7:11 p.m. Friday.

Her cousin, Franz Maypa, said Liriodica, who was into the buy-and-sell business of cosmetic products, was on her way to the Our Lady of Mercy Hospital to get the birth certificate of her niece, when she was ran over by the bus.

Maypa said Liriodica’s interment will be at 2 p.m. today at the Bacolod City Memorial Park, and the FFP has been helping them with their financial needs.

He added that they have not yet decided whether they will file charges against bus driver Jose Sansing, 45, of Talisay City, Negros Occidental, who is now in police custody.

Garong said Sansing may have failed to notice Liriodica while she was crossing the street because of the height of the bus that is now impounded at the Bacolod City police headquarters.*APN
