Teen sentenced
for kidnapping

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

A 17-year-old nanny has been sentenced to 14-years imprisonment by Bacolod Regional Trial Court Branch 41 Judge Ray Alan Drilon after she pleaded guilty to the kidnapping of the 1-year-old son of her employer.

However, the court suspended her sentence as she is a minor but she will undergo rehabilitation, Drilon said yesterday.

Information filed in court showed that the victim’s mother arrived home at about 6 p.m. on January 7, this year and found the suspect and her son missing from her house in Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod.

Several hours later, Station 8 policemen, the Bacolod City Police’s Women and Children’s Complaints Desk and the members of the Special Operations Task Group arrested the nanny and rescued the boy at the bus terminal in Brgy. Bata, Bacolod.

The suspect tagged the live-in partner of her aunt, who allegedly threatened to kill her, as the mastermind behind the crime, and also claimed that he promised to give her P5,000 and a cellular phone if she can bring the child to him.

The suspect is now in the custody of the Social Development Center of the Bacolod City Police headquarters.*APN
