ON CAPITOL PROJECT
‘Ayala won’t change its mind’
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Members of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry and AyalaLand Inc. representatives met at the Manila Hotel Wednesday to discuss the company’s disengagement from the lease and purchase of the 7.7-hectare Capitol property in Bacolod City.

During the meeting, ALI, through its Corporate Communications head Jorge Miguel Marcó maintained that they will not change their mind, MBCCI president Frank Carbon, said yesterday.

Quoting Marco, Carbon said, ALI was elated with the decision of the Commission on Audit approving the deal between the company and the provincial government.

However, the pending case filed by the SM Prime Holdings Inc. against the provincial government insisting that they are the rightful winner of the bid to lease and purchase the Capitol property before the Regional Trial Court Branch 50 may hinder the ALI’s development plan for the area, Carbon said.

ALI also stood firm on its decision to focus their development plan at their 200-hectare North Point project in Talisay City, which they expect will be completed by the middle of next year, Carbon also said.

He added that, instead of waiting for the court decision on the case filed by SMPHI, ALI told them that they would rather start the development project in Talisay to generate more jobs for Negrenses

The vice mayors in the province, meanwhile, are not taking any stand on the decision of ALI, Vice Mayors League of the Philippines-Negros Occidental president Jude Thaddeus Sayson said yesterday.

Sayson said the vice mayors of Negros Occidental met at the 21st-Bascon Restaurant in Bacolod City yesterday but they did not discuss the matter.*APN
