BCPO: Abduction victim seems
to be withholding information
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

The teenage son of a businessman and a teacher from northern Negros Occidental, who claimed to have been abducted in Bacolod City Wednesday last week, seems to be withholding information about the incident, City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz said yesterday.

De la Paz shared this observation after he received reports that the 18-year-old victim allegedly destroyed the memory card of his cellular phone, which, he said, could have been a key in resolving the case.

He said the memory card may have contained calls and text messages from several persons, including the members of a fraternity who are allegedly recruiting the victim.

On Saturday, De la Paz said several members of a fraternity are being investigated for possible links to the abduction of the teenager, who was ignoring their invitation for him to join their group.

De la Paz said their investigation on the alleged abduction of the teenager, who is a second year chemical engineering student, is ongoing.

“We are not disregarding his allegations, and in fact, we want to identify and arrest those who abducted him, so we can file charges for robbery and slight illegal detention”, de la Paz said.

The victim told the police he was walking along 21st Street, Bacolod between 3:30 to 4 p.m. Wednesday when four armed men abducted and forced him into the compartment of their car and released him in Miag-ao, Iloilo province on the same day.

He said the suspects took his wrist watch and P9,800 in cash intended for his tuition.

His wallet was recovered later 50 meters away from the Miag-ao police station.*APN
