Rape-slay raps filed vs.
man in Kabankalan
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The 13-year-old girl, who was stabbed and killed Aug. 16 in Brgy. Tagoc, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, was also molested, police said.

The suspect, Jan Jan Espresa, 18, who was immediately arrested by the police, was charged with rape with homicide, before the Kabankalan City Prosecutor's Office, police chief Supt. Calixto Mabugat said.

Investigations by the Kabankalan police showed that the victim, identified as Inocencia Tubal, 13, succumbed to seven stab wounds.

Mabugat yesterday said that her lifeless body had been stripped of her shorts and underwear, and showed signs of being molested, as the autopsy reports indicated.

The arrest of Espresa was made when a witness provided the Kabankalan police with a tip that the stainless steel knife used in stabbing Tubal, was owned by the suspect.

Mabugat added that the suspect confessed to having killed the minor, and claimed that he was not aware of what he was doing.

While his commitment order to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology is awaited, Espresa is being detained at the Kabankalan police lockup cell.*GPB
