Novero hoping for
support of 5 dads
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Former Bacolod Vice Mayor Renecito Novero said he hopes to get the support of five incumbent councilors under the Grupo Serbisyo in his bid to run for vice mayor in the 2013 elections.

The five councilors known as the "First Five" is composed of incumbent Councilors El Cid Familiaran, Catalino Alisbo, Elmer Sy, Sonya Vedeflor and Archie Baribar.

There were reports that mayoralty aspirant and former Bacolod Rep. Monico Puentevella called some barangay captains to a meeting Sunday to endorse vice mayoralty aspirant Vladimir Gonzalez as his running mate.

Asked if he was aware of such meeting, Novero said he was not privy to it as he was preoccupied with his obligations with the Bacolod Evangelical Church that held a concert with their choir and orchestra Sunday.

Even if he was invited, he could not go because of his church obligation, he said. However, he did not know about such meeting, he said.

Novero said he has maintained a good relation with the “First Five” and he knows their sentiments against the possible selection of Gonzalez as the running mate of Puentevella.

He claimed that many do not like the Puentevella-Gonzalez tandem including the “First Five,” because Baribar is also offering his services to run for vice mayor.

Novero said he also tried to reach out to the group of Councilor Al Victor Espino despite the fact that Espino is also seriously considering running for vice mayor and hopes to get the endorsement of Grupo Progreso stalwarts Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson.*CGS
