Boy, gov’t worker
killed in mishaps

A municipal government employee and a 7-year-old boy yesterday died, and three others were injured in traffic and vehicular accidents, in Talisay City and Pontevedra, Negros Occidental, police records show.

Fritzel Arsenio, 7, and his sister, Cherry Mae, 8, and two other minors whose identities were not available as of press time, were on their way to Tayabas Elementary School in Brgy. Zone 15, Talisay City, when they were hit by a passenger bus bound for Bacolod City, at about 7 a.m. yesterday, investigations of the Talisay police showed.

Fritzel died, while his elder sister, sustained injuries in her right leg but survived. The two other minors suffered abrasions, police investigations also showed.moremoremore

Farm worker Teofilo Sakite was scheduled to get married to a 20-year-old woman in Silay City, Negros Occidental, on Aug. 18

Sakite, 52, however, was brutally killed Tuesday night in Brgy. Guimbalaon Silay City. He suffered a broken skull and slash wounds in the neck. Worse, his sexual organ was cut off and placed beside his cadaver, investigations of the Silay police showed.

Supt. Rosauro Francisco, Silay police chief, yesterday said Teofilo had impregnated a woman, who is the daughter of the first husband of a certain Shirley, whose second husband, is the cousin of the victim.moremoremore

Mayors praying vs. showdown

EB Magalona Mayor David Lacson, president of the Negros Association of Chief Executives, yesterday said the mayors of Negros Occidental are hoping and praying that a break-up in the United Negros Alliance is prevented.

A break-up would open the floodgates for more opposition candidates to emerge in the towns and cities of Negros Occidental in 2013, he said.
